Our grid is constantly going down. Texas has a problem with blackouts even during nonemergencies.

The last few major storms, we never lost power. So, as long as we're stocked up on food, it's a fine break from routine. Driving bans in effect, so no work. One or two of those a year, I'm good with it.

I don't think we've ever had driving bans here. Even during that major snow storm they only warned people to not drive, but didn't outright ban them.

The problem here is when people are out driving in a severe blizzard, odds are they're gonna crash or get stuck. So, they're a hazard to the plows and emergency vehicles. And, they divert resources from non-idiots and clearing the roads.

That is the same thing here, only they don't plow the roads. Makes sense to not plow since it isn't the snow that's t he issue, it's the ice. They will sometimes salt the roads, but that only works so well and when it's -30 it doesn't matter.

Time for me to cook dinner.
