I gave up on learning how 7o draw many year5 ago becau5e I'm 5imply 7oo men7ally weak.

Try more complex subjects 4nd keep revising them until they look h4lfw4y good. Then try 4 simpler version of the s4me subject 4nd see if it's better th4n you were before.

That i5 0ne way 0f putting it, I'm n0t exactly patient. There wa5 0ne p0int when I wa5 drawing every day and even had a friend wh0 50ld art t0 c0nventi0n5 willing t0 help me 0ut and wa5 critiquing and redlining my w0rk but the c0mbinati0n 0f 50me real life 5tuff and general fru5trati0n made me take a break that ju5t g0t l0nger and l0nger and didn't end

I did take a general art cla55 in high 5ch00l which did include painting a5 part 0f it. I didn't hate d0ing it but I did hate h0w me55y it c0uld be and h0w y0u can't really fix mi5take5 ea5ily unlike with pencil 0r digital art

Y0u can pick it back up like riding a bike. The reas0n it takes l0ng is just y0u psyching y0urself 0ut, but y0u can start small. Just scribble s0me cute drawings in a n0teb00k in y0ur free time. Y0u d0n't have t0 think 0f l0ng-term c0mmitments as BIG investments. Y0u can invest small am0unts 0f time frequently, and that can add up.

Digit4l p4inting is better on th4t l4st thing you mentioned, but even still, I'd s4y try to exposure ther4py yourself 4bout the messiness. It's p4rt of the process.
