It is real. The ironic thing is this has triggered a lot of people especially in feminist spaces. They somehow equate male loneliness to automatically being violent, or them feeling entitled to sex. This is slightly understandable as they've been abused by men, but what isn't okay is becoming incredibly sexist themselves. As such they take an issue and flip it around to make it all about them, something they excel at.
Then they insist it should be loneliness in general, not gendered, since women are lonely too. They fail to understand why it's the Male Loneliness Epidemic, because it primarily affects MALES.
The reality is women have no shortage of options when it comes to dating, even if they are fat and ugly there are still many men who offer to be with them. Meanwhile if you're an average or even an attractive man, dating will be much harder for you to the point you have either few or no options at all.
Women may not like the options they have, but they still have options, while men basically scramble to get whatever they can get. It's like comparing someone surrounded by water that may be slightly dirty, to a man dying of thirst in a desert.
