The highest of all priorities is to enjoy the games and the streaming. Going into it with money, success or fame on the mind will poison the experience sooner or later, but if you are just there to have a good time, then you're already winning, and any of the aforementioned side effects re just boons. On top of that, streams are often much more fun for onlookers if the streamer is having fun.
I've been at it for many years now without a shred of burnout because I only play what interests me and I enjoy without caring about viewer numbers.
All that said and done, I'm painfully aware of how demotivating it can be to stream to absolutely nobody. My best advice would be to have some friends or a small group you're involved with and stream to each other. Having those initial viewers will keep you motivated and interested, while also boosting you above 95% of the other empty channels on Twitch/YouTube.
As for making a living off of it, ads and subscribers make plenty for me. Sponsorships are an option too.

pretty comfy and easy, it's in the oil/energy sector. you get assigned cases in a system (invoices, project descriptions, contracts, etc.), check out details, input and correct shit in a different system and put it through a workflow. it's basically a service department, so not very intellectually challenging. i also mainly work with women that are 20+ years older than me and have no concept of teaching or training new employees, but i get by and only have to stay here for two years before i can transfer someplace else. i use the hell out of my title to make it seem like i'm more important than i am though. my degree (media and communication) has nothing to do with what i do, but i have previously worked with administrating and coordinating projects. some of my coworkes have engineering degrees and just wanted to take it easy after burning out, while others started on the "floor" and just worked their way up through the years. i make around $66,000 a year, which is pretty good considering my background, workload and general benefits. thanks for coming to my tedxtalk.

I know you mean well, but that's not at all what's happening where I work. We've got robots replacing the old timers, sure, but it's leaving fewer and fewer positions that make working tolerable

If you can, please for the love of god focus on automating Quality checking versus taking away manual labor. I will go insane if my job is reduced to watching cheese blur by for 8 hours a day.
