it never occured to me to make my own but it did occur to me to use adapters. I been buying the cheap batteries and the adapters for I can use the not brand name M18s with the rigids via adapter and the not brand rigids with the ryobis with an adapter. I don't even have a brand name d'walter battery but I have some tools
