I eat fish and seafood. They live free, are caught wild, die relatively quickly and painlessly. They are more intelligent than the three minute memory myth about goldfish, but not by much.
The only exception is octopus. I absolutely WILL NOT eat octopus because they actually are very intelligent!
Aside from that, I no longer eat cow, pig, chicken, turkey, goat, lamb, deer, or any other land animal.

Ethics is a weak position in reality. There are people who drive electric cars to be "ethical" even though the power grid is still primarily fossil fuel, the batteries they run off of are a massive toxic dump, and they only represent 5% or less of the total global driving population. Ethics makes you feel good about paying more to disadvantage yourself. Look out for your fellow man if you can afford to, but don't let it prevent you from surviving and fighting for a better future for your line.

You can't farm plants without slaughtering 1000s of wild animals. It's objectively more ethical to kill farmed animals and eat them than kill wild animals and leave them as fertilizer for your moral salad.

Don't think of it in terms of false dialectics. There's nothing right or wrong with eating meat. How the animals are raised and treated by others matters, but these choices are not directly your own.
Indirectly, you can support free-range cattle which are painlessly slaughtered, but you cannot stop the cycles of Life and Death here on Earth.
