Look at the time line 80s when it just started, people worked one job - normal hours, could save, house prices were cheap, easier to get their kids into Uni/College and loans were cheaper as were the course fees.
00s The change took a massive change at this point, the US government (and other governments) fooled people that they need to spend way more money into military budgets to fight against Extremist Islamic groups, while piling more money into Zionist controlled Israel for them to continue pushing genocide.
And 2016 when Trump got in the first time, you could see their plan to put on stupid Tariffs unrealistically onto things being imported so they could trigger a recession was clear to see, thankfully the Senate/Congress at the time were not idiots.
With goalposts moved for seats in both the congress and senate since then through Biden's tenure, it set Trump up to be finally pushing through these idiotic Tariffs.
This whole victim story about how countries are sending us goods and nobody is taken American goods is also stupid. Americans are buying foreign cars because they are better and cheaper to buy and run. Same for other goods too. And other nations don't want to buy them either. The EU tariff on imported goods is 3% on average, yet Trump lied said it was 39% and that 20% tariff should be applied, this is just going to stop EU nations importing US goods. So worse off for America. Pro-tip Half of Teslas cars are produced in Germany which now has a 25% tariff when going to the US.
There is no "money laundering", the simple fact is a good chunk of American businesses are Asian and European owned now. So money is going from the US to those nations HQs. Don't blame them, blame the US govt who made it difficult for US based companies to run effeciently to the point they had to sell.
