Those Monday Blues Edition
G/fur
Phantasm was awesome. My older brother liked Phantasm but I was more an Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre kid. Halloween III? The one with the masks that turned kids' heads into spiders?
first?
That would be me.
5 big booms
im not depressed, its just monday blues
you got it!!!
Phantasm still pretty much holds up today. Excellent use of practical effects. Mostly. Evil Dead and Army of Darkness were great. Raimi and Campbell are a great team. Yeah, the one with the masks. Total cash-in on the Halloween popularity considering it was 99% nothing to do with Michael Meyer. But still good fun.
Indeed.
which Phantasm?
The first one. I saw the second and I was pretty much done with the series. I think they did about 75 movies. And, the Tall Man, Angus Scrimm was in every one of them.
monday blues won't get the best of you
I ask for more work to do
I dont get a reply
I continue to play runescape
Many such cases
+$65/h
I seen the first one, that was not a good movie at all. Funny in how serious it was trying to be but not at all scary
Campbell is an actually great actor. He understands exactly the kind of film he's in and how to act in it. My understanding if Halloween III was that Carpenter wanted to make the franchise more of an anthology type thing where the movies were all thematically themed around Halloween, but each was some different scary thing that happens on it. So a homicidal maniac, masks that turn heads into spiders, etc. But due to the very poor reception of Halloween III they backpedalled hard and brought back Mike Myers.

is it possible to learn this power?
The first one was great.
Yeah, go back in time and become autistically good at problem solving and then work for almost 10 years in IT
Also you cant teach problem solving
sounds good to me uwu
I'd rather be doing work but hey, I can only ask so many times
Sooo done with hand washing dishes
starts throwing stuff overboard
Well, I enjoyed it. Very original story... except for the Dune pain box homage/ripoff...
I enjoy most Carpenter films, too. Escape from New York my favorite, even over his The Thing remake. Which I liked, too.
time to pick up second job and make 120/hr
IT
i can solve problems but maybe not those ones
its a mostly thankless job but one of the most important
Give me yours
You WILL not be getting a cut
d-daddy?
you dont want this job TRUST
I know but after finding out how long the diahwashing machine has been broken on our boat kinda made me wanna lose it...but almost over...need to chill out ~.~;
Doing a 12 hour shift, two weeks straight
the opted to not fix it because it'd be easier to buy a new one...4 months ago
Yeah probably because you need to write retard monkey c code for some 50 year old financial system which powers a fortune 500 company
And you WILL be paid pennies for said work
there's only one job i need
blowjob
and an actual job so i can pay my rent
that's rough, dumb management taking advantage of workers
I enjoy washing dishes. Maintaining my cooking equipment is very satisfying and even somewhat relaxing in a way.
Growing uo my favorite Carpenter film was Big Trouble in Little China, but now my favorite is They Live. I also really enjoy Carpenter's work, though my favorite was either Hooper or Fulci.
worse, i do embedded c/c++ and its bleeding edge euro standards with hundreds of pages of dense documentation. kill meeeeeeeeeeeeee
blowjob
youre hired, your cubicle is under my desk
they live
that film is only becoming more relevant
great!! i'll be sure to come in early
Its okay, Im sure you're paid well :^^^^^^)
Big Trouble and They Live were greats, too. Big Trouble was so cheesy, but still good. They Live painted a great dystopian picture of the ~near future~ I wanted an acting career for Piper, but it never materialized.
I did my time doing dish duty when I worked at a restaurant. Kinda meditative. Just go on autopilot and let the mind wander. I remember a few times stopping by for coffee and smokes on my day off and ending up getting their dishes caught up because they were slammed.
suddenly TIDDIES
it wasnt bad until the stress and responsibility ramped up
We can only hope it increases
Pretty much, guess the silver lining is they really couldn't pull me to other tasks due to being swamped with dishes. Ngl pretty impressive how many dirty dishes a small passenger ferry can generate
Oooh for sure, had a whole method that worked for me but what grind my gears is coming back from a break and finding my sinks stewing in what ever liquid mess the cooks made coupled with various food refuse they just can't be bothered to scrape out before hand. Filipinos just fucking love to soak every fucking container that can hold water...
Side note, feel like a god damn stranger on a america vessel as half the crew speaks their native tongue over English, honestly didn't think that would bother me
apologies for the venting
it wont, its a cash strapped startup. i was going to ask for a raise a year ago but the money isnt there
I was talking about the stress and responsibility :^)
im gonna say a slur!!!
yeah okay nigger
Still no reply
What? Wow! I'm honoured, I dedicate this first to poor borb who has to endure being fed spicy Italian food and can't do his runs on vacation
It's been relevant since the 80s.
Kurt Russell is a great actor in general and that movie was hella fun. They Live is really bleak, which I thoroughly enjoy.
I have washed dishes at a lrevious restaurant, though I did so because I was the manager and our dishwasher called out. I hated washing dishes in the restaurant, but at home it's enjoyable. They're my things, they're actually quite nice and expensive, and I want to maintain them.
I feel that. I'm at a small biotech startup that's about to run out of cash yet somehow still is able to keep the lights on. I'm paid about 40k less than market value for my position but they cant afford any more ;_;
he took lots of cool photos, im sure he had a good time
are you investing / saving for anything
yuppp and this company i work for has been heavily mismanaged, it didnt need to be this way
its alright ill ride it out until the company folds or i cant take it anymore
that's a silver lining for sure, would suck if they piled even more on... oh yeah people can be real slobs when they don't have to clean up after themselves.
yes i know i'm just saying it's even more relevant now, which is crazy.
All the dishwashers I've ever worked with do that. Everyone likes to soak their dishes to loosen the food grime. Makes it easier for them to remove even if it makes a nightmare soup you gotta put your hands into.
I couldn't imagine working on a boat. Being stuck out at sea. What happens if y'all get ship wrecked? Does the custom of the sea still apply? Do y'all go over that in orientation?
I specced up a new pc which is like $3k
Im at like $170k savings
Not investing or anything. Im kinda just bored
I should have mentioned I got their dishroom caught up when I didn't even work there any more. I had a lot of friends that still worked there and it was a great place to kick back after work. No pay, but I'd just go back behind the line and cook myself a meal. The newer people had no idea what the heck was going on. Some thought I must have been someone from corporate.
kinda surprised youre not investing it, you already own your place right
put the 5090 down!
The really crazy thing is that some retards interpret it as it being about Jews. Y'knkw, those fucking dumbass nazi fuck heads who think the Jews control the media and all that dumb horseshit.
The $3k was just for a 5090...
a 5090 is like $6k AUD
Im waiting for the market to crash further
i agree that's stupid. the film was already blatantly about media companies owning the world and propaganda being everywhere. jew haters will find jews in everything.
thats my guess too, nobody needs a 9950x3d
invest in my game studio so i can quit my jobs and do what i was born to do
One thing I've had drilled into my head from my very first job was never work for free. Hell, when I was managing that other place if an employee came in off the clock and tried to, like, make their own drink kr something I'd kick them out from behind the bar and tell them to give me their order. I didn't care how busy we were, I refused to let anyone work off the clock, even for themselves.
burn your money
No
Hope he does, weather should've become better
Yes they will. They'll even try and pull that shit on outwardly antiracist media. Fucking morons.
Core parking is lame. My 9800x3d does just fine.
Ehh, it was just a couple times, they were in a pinch and like I said, they were friends. I probably drank gallons of free coffee there, so least I could do.
sad for them i suppose. was The Thing about jews too i wonder?
it not burning your money i good at what i do!!!
i have family that wanna invest but it not enough for me to do fulltime
i need to rma my 14900k, the new one is on my desk
I actually need to stop by there amd get my W2 so I can do my taxes. They're probably not going to be too happy to see me doing so well. At least the manager that replaced me and the one that fired me won't be.
It's nlt just sad, it also has to be fucking exhausting to walk around with that much hate and resentment. Yeah, The Thing was about Jews because Jews infiltrate society and convert people to their way of life or whatever.
Go watch the Twilight Zone episode, "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street", and that's what I think it was really about. Paranoia. I think that's why it had such an ambiguous ending. It wasn't about who was the alien, it was everyone turning on each other.
I will eventually RMA my 13700K, but not right now. It's in a box with the motherboard. 9800x3d. Hail to the king, baby.
I got called
wah, support guys are using custom scripts which they havent updated in the entire YEAR that the new functionality has been out
Oooh for sure, but they've got chemical that instantly release or you take measures while cooking to help avoid that. Either way Soaking isn't needed or what's stuck on does need brute force.
It's actually not to bad, we're a alaska ferry and we have many redundancies to help against emergencies. Also, yeah orientation plus BT to advise in basic emergency/medical motions. With more advanced classes for higher grades within the chain of command. All in all like working on a mobile building heh
Lol the fucking tried, Thank God my chief stepped in and told Deckhands to kick rocks xD
I prefer the episode where Robert Redford kills that elderly woman.
thanks for the laugh lol. jokes aside those films are fantastic and timeless.
hm that does make sense, there were kinda two creatures, the actual creature and their fear of the creature?
thank goodness for that
the actual creature and their fear of the creature?
Yeah, that's a good way to look at it.
Side note- the practical effects... which were phenomenal... were done by a 19 year old kid. Amazing and SO much better that the AI CGI slop they make today.
Oh trust me, I know all about dumbass dishwashers and chemicals. At my previous job our dishwashers would spray degreaser onto hot pans and stove burners and create massive toxic clouds. We told them all countless tines not to do that, you let them cool down, spray and set them aside fkr a few minutes, then can basically just rinse them off with minimal scrubbing and no clouds of gas that will give you cancer.
A mobile building that, at any moment could force the occupants to resort to survival cannibalism... Are y'all hiring by any chance?
They were. A ton of great horror films came out in the 80s and not just from Carpenter. The Serpent and the Rainbow is another timeless classic horror film and this coming from a guy who's not too big on Wes Craven should tell ypu something.
Serpent and the Rainbow
ohhhhhh... I haven't thought about that one in years. Loved it.
practical effects
new films have NOTHING on old films that way, agreed
they were horror films that were also good films, now all horror film are just "the guy kills you" and its not even suspenseful or interesting.
You don't updated the script, you change production to ft your script
Hmmm how much would that be
yes, we are and I'll be honest. We pay rather well for entry level and if you know how to follow orders and do the tasks at hand, you'll be just fine. Just a reminder it is alaska, been here for almost two years and I'm still getting used to the state lol
Premuch what im being told
It'd take a non-retard a day to fix this shit or implement it in code
I think it was Roger Ebert who referred to the mindless 1980s slasher movies as "Dead teenager films", and he was mostly right. But there was some gold in those years, too.
i think that was partly how it was done well once or twice and then everyone jumped on the bandwagon. which still happens today
I do too. I think about it actually pretty regularly, but I'm sort of macabre and am interested in, like, voodoo and all that kind of stuff.
I don't know, Longlegs was fucking incredible. One of the best horror films I've ever seen and certainly the best to be released in the last decade or so.
Alaska can't be any worse than Texas. Sure, your winters are harsher, but I like the cold.
So find a retard that has it fixed in a couple hours
longlegs
i haven't seen that yet so i can't say, but i've heard mixed things about it
well, you wanted work!
hot boi
enough to cover rent and living expenses which is maybe $1500/mo
I'd go to Alaska just to take a ton of pictures. But, that's my only interest.
The things that get me are, Higher Cost of living and strange daylight hours during summer and winter. (Either eternal day or eternal night) was Hella jarring at first. Though if you're still up for it I can certainly shoot you the details here or where ever you'd like ^~^
Longlegs was so damn good. It's the only horror film I've seen where, as I was watching it I kept saying out loud "I don't like this." It was pure dread and suspense and I was horribly uncomfortable the entire time. Fucking 10 out of 10, would highly recommend. Also Nicolas Cage as an insane serial killer? What's nkt to loce about that?
Chances are it'd be me
And I dont want to do that shit
Nah its just reverting some code to make the software worse because blablablabalalblalblalb fuck ytou
well, i am definitely gonna watch it now with that review
I was just joking about wanting to work at a place where I may get the opportunity to eat a person. I'm not really looking to make a move and being on a boat for long periods of time would probably drive me insane.
Let me know what you think when you do.
I like how to make him taller, they put him in a suit too small for him.
They reverse David Byrned him?
grabbing it right now
same as it ever was
Yeah, at least in the first film.
Yeah, total bunch of amateurs made the film and they nailed it.
Hi, Snarf!
I have a Nicholas Cage theory- when he gets the perfect hairpiece, he'll make the perfect film.
You may ask yourself, why is this suit too large
And you may ask yourself, can I get it tailored?
I told myself this is not my beautiful house.
Hilarious.
What Nic Cage needs is a director who knows what they're doing. Either in reigning in his insanity (Pig) or steering it in the right direction (Bad Lieutenant).
I want to get a big suit like his.
how did i get here??
I want one that truly embraces his insanity.
I really liked Bringing Out The Dead. His insanity matched the burned out paramedic character perfectly.
How long would you need to become profitable
Hey, let's all twist our thumbs.
Then you should check out Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans.
I haven't seen that one, but I prefer his more subdued roles. Pig, 8mm, The Weatherman. Calm Nic Cage with deep sadness inside him is the best I think.
How about Leaving Las Vegas? I enjoyed it, and I can never watch it again.
I actually haven't seen that one or Adaptation.
2 years of fulltime, longer if part time
Both good films.
That's what I hear. People kept trying to pressure me to watch them when I was in art school and I'm the type of guy who, of people start applying a lot of pressure on I'll do the opposite out of spite.
I'm also the kind of guy who will watch things my friends want me to watch but then never tell them I watched it and play dumb anytime they try to bring it up to frustrate them.
So 36k in and no return for the first two years
yes, which isnt bad stats for an investment scheme for a startup. in business 36k is a pittance and 2 years is pretty quick to market. if i wanted to do the groundwork i could secure funding pretty easily
ive researched games in the same genre / niche and they usually do a million in sales first year
so thirsty
it also helps if you make good games i think
Updated our addin for new outlook
is precool
Didnt take long either
What kind of game are you working on?
yeah thats never a guarantee even if i have the technical expertise to pull everything else off
outlook like the mail client
that sounds so boring -~-
a computer hacking game
you could make a good game and it just doesnt get popular, that happens. or you make a dumb slop game and it makes millions. so unpredictable.
Like 1995's Hackers?
furry porn thread
IT work talked about
tracks
stereotypes exist for a reason
thats true but the people who play games in my niche tend to play them all and theres not very many of them. i think even if it was mediocre it would do well and i dont plan on making a mediocre game
absolutely, campy hollywood hacking
if its a solid game thats fun to play, plus has other stuff to attract people, thats a winning formula
Is Fisher Steven dping any voice work?
nuh there no voice acting!
i think it gonna do well
nini fluffers i luffs u <333
