How would you make Canada great again?
How would you make Canada great again?
I would turn their maple syrup into aunt jamayma
Much to late for that anon. Canadians are either still too brain washed or just waiting for the collapse.

I propose:
improve healthcare by modernizing hospitals and reducing wait times
build more homes and streamline zoning and permitting
support Canadian talent with grants and tax breaks
create a fairer equalization system to reduce Alberta/Quebec-Ottawa tensions
balance oil and green energy; use oil revenue to fund solar, wind, hydro, and nuclear
modernize military and cybersecurity to strengthen Arctic and naval forces
make college more affordable and expand vocational training in skilled trades
build a better Canada for everyone

CANADA IS ALREADY GREAT!
i don't give a fuck about canada
Canada who, never heard of her !
"free" healthcare is the FUNNIEST thing yall always mention
To make it great again implies it wasn't great at some point. And it was fine.
Play poison on the radio and t
It's better. Shut the fuck up if you have anything else to say about it. It's just so much better.

So, it's gets paid through taxes.
At least Canadian tax dollars aren't being spent on nuclear missiles every two weeks like in The U.S.
I'm sure the Canadian government is mor fiscally responsible than to spend THREE TRILLION DOLLARS EVERY TWO WEEKS on one nuclear missile.
That same three trillion dollars could feed, and provide housing for every homeless person in The U.S. for one year!
But you agree with everything else, don't you?
Remove British rule
Bane ?
But America needs a big military to protect themselves from all of the wars they start.
The funniest thing about "free" healthcare was work sending me to the US for 8 months before COVID, where, since I wasn't paying like $7k a month in "free" healthcare taxes, I could easily afford a gold-plated $600 a month plan with a $500 annual out of pocket cap, and when I needed to see a doctor it was $35 and I saw him the same day, then got referred for labs that were also that day, and then a specialist reviewed them and told me I was fine a day later.
Right now I've got a phone appointment with my GP, who is retiring in July with no replacement, coming up in 12 days, which I made last week. He has no in-person spots before he retires. After July I am still paying for "free" healthcare but I don't have a doctor.
How do you do that?
I'm moving to Canada in a couple of months, wish me luck anons
boy did you ever pick the wrong country to run off to. hope you have deep pockets. enjoy but you are in for a rough ride if you are not rich.
Where would you go if you were not exceedingly wealthy?
are you Pietyr Papadopoulos Sakamoto Scjezlak?
NTA, but the answer is fucking anywhere else
If we were a US state, we would have the highest cost of living and the lowest salaries. I'm lucky to be living in an illegal one-bedroom suite in a guy's basement for $2100/month, because a single room in someone else's house can go up to $1500. At least I have my own bathroom
canada's actually one of the best countries in the world
if we're talking about cultural greatness then you'll be hard pressed to find anything of note

It used to be until about 10 years ago, when the government decided to replace economic growth with just blowing up a giant housing bubble so the boomers could borrow against their homes and spend it into the economy
A decade of this means nobody can afford a house, and the boomers are now massively overleveraged and everyone gets wiped out if housing prices correct, so they started increasingly desperate moves to keep the bubble going, like letting people cash out retirement funds tax free if it's for a down payment, offering government backed loans for down payments (aka defeating the purpose of a down payment) and finally flooding the country with literally anyone who was willing to come here, so they could live 30 to a house and keep the bubble going another couple of years
Except it turns out that in addition to now making basically everyone under 50 a lifelong renter, all those new people need social services just as much as everyone else, which have all broken under the strain
Then they tried to throw in some social experiments like instant cheap bail for basically every offense and drug legalization, which has caused an explosion of crime and human suffering like you couldn't believe among all the people who can't afford somewhere to live
Expand MAID to anyone that wants it.
Maple syrup, moose, hockey and snow, seems great.
Checked and a better summary than can be found in any Canadian legacy media.
There's so much illegal shit going on too. The mortgage fraud among Indians is a well oiled machine. They don't even try to hide it. Law enforcement is mostly DEI hires and oblivious boomers who feel racist if they interfere with a scamming jeet's "culture". The asians and middle easterners who get ahead are almost all breaking laws, there's not sense of community anywhere here. The country is bankrupt in every way.
When the collapse occurs, it should be open season on boomers, all blame falls on them.
I do remember reading that banks have billions in unrecoverable funds from "newcomers" taking out $50k plus loans with completely fraudulent paperwork through a government streamlining process, and then just going home to be king of their village
Speaking from experience immigrating from CAD to US. Believe whatever you want.
US has problems but you are an actual fucking brainlet comparing quality of life.
I lived in Illinois when I worked in the US and I could not believe how much richer the average American is. Everything costs less, everyone is paid more and keeps more of it. I have been furious ever since I had to come back.
It so sad man. I got the fuck outta there post grad honestly because the career opportunities in Canada are fucking dogshit.
I have family and friends back in Southern Ontario and its always so rough going back.
The election was amazing. That's when I went from "I'd like to move back to the US" to "Holy fuck I have to get the fuck out of here at any cost"
The same government that just ruined the country for 10 years was overwhelmingly reelected because they told boomers the election was not about how badly everything's been ruined, but actually about the bad orange man on TV, and it worked
ELBOWS UP!!!!
Look at those priorities for the olds. Highest priority: Bad orange man on TV. Lowest priority: Making the country a better place to live.
Must escape
I'm so detached from politics there now. Since being in the state I have practically sworn things off back home because it was so fucked. Between immigration and COVID its unironically "cooked".
The shit Jagmeet pulled yanking people around was a fucking joke and the fact the Pollievre didnt do any press practically crowned Carney as defacto heir apparent. Actually fucking clown show.
I swear if I could move my parents here I would
But then you have people in this thread that take it as an affront and offensive when the obvious is stated. It's not even a "US is better than Canada" talking point.
As a Canadian first its fucking ridiculous to think I'm outright berating. I want better for my fucking family.
At the end of the day they're set in their ways - hence why I said "Believe whatever you want". The fact of the matter is whether they want to believe it or not is that its not even a comparison.
Clown country, I'm glad you got out Anon
I swear, everyone up here will believe literally anything if the TV tells it to them a couple of times, even if that's the complete opposite of what the TV told them yesterday. For me, the election just made it impossible to ignore
I'm sorry Anon Babblero I hope things are okay for ya.
I'm hoping our country's relations will mend - I'm definitely more conservative than not but by no means a Trump guy.
I just hope tensions ease - people back home are starting to (if they hadnt already) hate us Americans (like not the states, actual people) whereas people here couldnt tell you the first thing about Canadians. Idk if its American ethnocentrism or just further highlighting the disparity in quality of life between the 2 countries.
As far as local politics go, I dont know how you reconcile it. That graphic you shared is so depressing man. The fact that anything relating to economy is not through the fucking roof as an important factor honestly feels like a sign of concession.
Shit was even bad 4 years ago when I left - the number of friends I have that graduated from places like UT and Queens working to live in a basement in the Toronto/Niagara region for >3000/month with roommate. I cant even.
We need some of those Korean subs that we are in limbo about buying. The batteries are better than most current subs and we can hide under the ice and torpedo Americans and Ruskies.
Why Canada doesn't have its own weapons industry?
