I'm in my mid thirties and I still don't know how to use the semicolon
I'm in my mid thirties and I still don't know how to use the semicolon
you've never written code have you? or you're a filthy js pleb
I have worked construction my whole life. never had much use for coding or writing stuff. hell, I don't think I even remember the last time I read a book
I'm in my mid thirties and I still don't know how to use the semicolon
The best and easiest way to understand it is to remember that the symbol is a comma and a period and that's kinda how it should be used. Its an intermediary between a comma and a period, where you want there to be a longer pause than a normal comma, but still less than the full stop of a period.
Based blue collar worker
thanks. gonna print out a few worksheets and practice
the key of it is to be unionized.
you've never written code have you?
now that's just funny right there
anon thinks being a code monkey makes you somebody
I'm in my mid thirties; I still don't know how to use a semicolon.
good advice
you're a retard, because you don't know how ; works in code.
who the fuck cares about code monkeys; they're the bottom of the food chain in my world
same dude
I am 33 and I think I have a decent grasp on punctuation but the semi colon eludes me still
should have paid attention in class
when do we use the brackets with nipples? { }
unknown symbol ";", (1, 2lazy2count)
on lists, js queries, in non python languages, after using [ ] in maths
“Here is a lesson in creative writing. First rule: Do not use semicolons. They are transvestite hermaphrodites representing absolutely nothing. All they do is show you've been to college.”
-Kurt Vonnegut
you realize there's hundreds of LLMs that are going to make coding completely trivial in the next few years right? guys who have downs syndrome will be coding things that a common jeet would never dream of.
wrong
I'm a physicist who writes code in Matlab
then I throw the math over the fence to a code monkey to rewrite it in whatever language the customer wants. Code monkies can't math.
H = Generate(xTx,xRx,z,lambda);
G = H.'; % transpose, .' for transpose only, not conjugate transpose
% Matrix formulation of Fresnel integral
ERx = G*ETx*H;
% NOTE: if doing another propagation with different field but same
% wavelength, z, grids there is no need to re-generate H and G
Matlab
do you know billy koen?
i did matlab in college. and i gotta say: fuck that shit
ye, that's why i wanna learn to trade and maintain LLM's and other ai crap
take the example above
ERx = G*ETx*H;
which is the multiplication of three complex matrices
now re-write that in C++, Java, Python, or any other language
not my area of expertise. i'm pretty sure you can do it in both java and python by implementing a lot of custom objects and logic or using a library. too bad i don't care about matrices or geometry
No I don't; different branch of physics.
you're exactly right; what I wrote in one line takes 3rd party libraries and a couple dozen lines of code
eh, if i wanted to be a math nerd like you i still wouldn't choose matlab, JUST BECAUSE R EXISTS
his last name was vonnegut
semicolon
you use it to semipoop like the rest of us
show me some R code that multiplies three complex-valued 2D matrices in one line
show me a reply that isn't one line of text first.

what a pitiful faggot you are, codemonkey
Using a semicolon in writing is like saying "moreover" in a conversation. You just don't do it, it makes you look like a dick.
Pretty sure the semi colon was around before code was a thing. I would use it when listing things that are not one word but longer sentences.
And as I just found out, that is the correct way to apply the semi colon.
hey, thread's becoming boring soooooo, unless you post lewds of yourself i'm outta here. not worth chatting with baiting animals.
besides its use in programming syntax, chicago manual of style (cmos) defines it like this:
semicolons—when not separating items in a syntactically complex series—should separate independent clauses
chicagomanualofstyle.org
basically use a semicolon when you want to connect two similarly sounding individual sentences
The pancakes were delicious; they were fluffy and sweet.
bye codemonkey
Probably said before the internet really took off or just didn’t know how to use it
And what the age has to do with that? It's something that you acquire and learn to apply by reading. You can have ever read a grammar book and still know well how to apply it and have a perfect grammar, because are things that are learned by reading
You tattoo it on yourself after a failed suicide attempt to show how “strong you are” some faggot shit if you ask me but there you go.
that dog looks weird; he should get a bath
and have a perfect grammar

try writing in English next time
It's obviously not my first language. And thanks for pointing out the mistakes by the way, that helps me a lot
