When did you finally realize that religion as a whole is toxic for the world and either became atheist or diest?
Religon
Why should anyone worship a being that allows so much terrible shit to happen to random people? When it happens to a bad person it's, "God's Judgement", but when the same bad shit happens to a good person it's, "God's Plan".
its the same shit with doctors.
What do you mean?
"the doctor saved my boy! It was god's plan!"
"my boy died on the operating table, the doctor is a HACK!"
doctors replaced my shoulder, allowing me to use my right arm again
what has god done for me?
Oh, I see what your saying. Yeah it's all the same shit. That's why I cringe whenever religion is brought up in the medical field.
thats my point. The average hypocritical religious person would say that's God's work, but lets say he did all he could and your shoulder was still fucked up, that religious person would blame the doctor and not god.
The worst part is, all of this is supposedly perfectly in line with God's ultimate plan, because according to their own logic, bad circumstances are apart of God's plan too. When they dislike bad outcomes, they're also disliking God's plan.
yup exactly; now, I respect the bible, but I hate religious people. As a whole, the bible has good intentions on how to live life but so many people are fucking retarded and they take it WAY too seriously.
I respect the bible
I don't. I don't need a fairytale skydaddy book to teach me basic concepts such as right from wrong. I teach myself because I'm a decent human being who knows better. Evil people who need a book to restrain them from doing heinous shit are the real enemy.
True, I think we would likely be better off without it as a whole but I wonder if it would ever be a good thing. Where WOULD morality come from? The sadness of losing someone or something? I guess?
It's a weird double edged sword that I'm not sure if I can at least make the one pointing at me to be either blunt or into a handle.
I hate how there's always a one sided conversation when it comes to Christfags. I genuinely love Jesus and talking religion but 90% of people slide under the "how can I "save " this guy today? I always pull the "you gotta meet me halfway" card. "I believe Jesus existed." "But do you accept him as your Lord and Saviour?" "...I belive he existed." Luckily it's been a fat minute since I've run into these people.
How can it be fairytales if there are no fairies in it dipshit? At least call it historical fiction.
fairytales have to have a literal fairy
Are you this dumb anon
Claiming atheism and deism aren't religions
lol
WHen i was like 13, then when i was like 24 or 24 i realized it was actually right and went back to the faith.
Being an atheist is like going through your edgy teenage years. Once you actually mature and start seeing the reality of the world and nature you understand religion is the answer.
But WHiCh OnE? hUh? WhIcH oNe Is ThE ReAl One?!
The one you hate the most.
Booker literally covers that very thing.
they're not SUPPOSED to be.
Being a Christ fag
Religion is for people who can't figure out how to be a good person.
Once you actually mature and start seeing the reality of the world and nature you understand religion is the answer.
You MUST be trolling.
Religion is for people who can't figure out how to be a good person.
nope. religion is population control. lies to turn the majority of this dumb species against you and exploit its natutal quirks
You've got these people who think that you have to have religion in your life to be a good person but most religions at this point are overly toxic with assholes thinking they are better than you for the sake of the type of bible or religious book that they follow
I've realized religion as a whole is bad for humanity around age of 13. but now i'm starting to think that it is not actually.
Left the cult in my mid twenties, realized it was toxic before I turned 30
As a whole, the bible has good intentions on how to live life
If you're gonna cherry pick that much just use a different book. Try ethics 101 or intro to philosophy
All their arguments start and hinge upon the presupposition that their religion is correct
Well athiesm is not, deism kinda depends on how you define religion
i realized it was actually right and went back to the faith.
So what changed your mind? I hope its not a dressed up god of the gaps argument
Why not both?
While I'm skeptical of the supernatural, Christianity is the prime-driver of western excellence and accomplishment. I follow the teachings of Christ in order to preserve his legacy and better my character.
because it's derived from morality, which is again population control
Xtianity has declined by 30% in the US since 1972
Religions is for the people who need to be told to return the shopping carts. It has it's place as long as people with low IQs are existing in society.
Biggest problem is that technically there are 667 sins in the bible. So why only pick 7 of the worst?
I saw a lot of bad in the world and I at first thought a lot like the people who also see the bad shit and pull the whole.
Well how can a loving god allow evil like this.
But then i also started looking at a lot of good in the world that everyone likes to ignore, and started to realize that people who only complain about the bad shit in the world never see the glory of the world. I spent a lot of time in nature.
Started reading a lot of philosophy as well, Plato, Aristotle, Stoicism, Machiavelli which helped me solidify purpose as a man and as a person.
I also just saw a lot of personal things that convinced me God was real and when i started look at all the small good things that i have, and that others have, and that im able to also give to people, just kinda led me back to religion.
I viewed it as a very personal thing that helped me become a better person spiritually. Hard to explain i know but its one of those, you only understand when it hits you.
Definitely not a god of the gaps, if anything i promote science hard, because science does not prove or disprove God, nor can it. If anything i think science brings people close to god because it shows how he works.
People forget Science is the study of the natural world, it is used to explain the natural world, it is impossible for science to prove or disprove something super natural like God, because its faith.
where did you copy that from?
i swear it was on a "quote of the month" calendar
Copy why? i typed all that myself.
uh huh
Well im not sure what to tell you anon, but I did, so.
Anon asked why i went back to faith, and i told him why. Take it or leave it.
TFW you first heard Jerusalem means "city of peace"
as soon as I found out other religions existed, it became immediately obvious it was all madeup bullshit
Kill the heretic
Deus Vult
can i kill you instead?
Never

Godsmack: bad religion; Intro: Sully Erna & Kenneth Copeland
Kenneth Copeland
That mother fucker is scary looking. The fact that he actively fleeces poor idiots for their every dime adds an evil aspect to him. He might be Satan. Imagine waking up in the middle of the night and seeing this face staring at you from the foot of the bed
I also just saw a lot of personal things that convinced me God was real
Such as and how?
he looks like the kinda guy that would tell you not to put your elbows on the kitchen table
